Between which two countries did carter want to establish peace

Carter wanted to establish peace between Israel and Egypt. He achieved it by mediating between both countries and achieving the signing of the Camp David Accords.

Diplomatic communications between Israel and Egypt increased significantly after the 1973 Yom Kippur War and the Carter administration believed that it was the right time for a global solution to the conflict.

In mid-1978, Carter was very concerned, since the Treaty of Separation between Egypt and Israel had expired only a few months earlier. Carter decided to assign a special envoy to the Middle East. The US ambassador came and went between Cairo and Tel Aviv trying to reduce the discrepancies between the two countries. It was then suggested that the chancellors meet in the castle of Leeds (England) to discuss the possibilities of peace. They tried to reach an agreement, but the foreign ministers failed to do so, after which the 1978 Camp David Accords were reached, one of Carter's most important achievements during his presidency, which in summary determined:

First, Israel would completely abandon the Sinai, including the dismantling of the installed colonies, returning full sovereignty to Egypt that could not support more than a small number of military forces in the area, signing the peace six months later . In turn, Egypt would recognize the existence of the State of Israel. Egypt was the first country in the Arab world to do so, which caused the discontent of the other Arab countries.

In second place, a basic agreement was signed that established the calendar and a minimum of powers to negotiate the establishment of an autonomous regime in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
