explain what you believe this famous quote of Jack Londons means: "The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time."


This quote speaks about the purpose of one’s life and how their experiences contribute to the overall fulfillment of their life. London believes that people should take risks & do what makes them happy in order to fully live. The difference between living and existing is happiness. Instead of “wasting” his time trying to prolong his life, he focuses on what he can do in the current moment that would make him happy
